This year we are holding our Christingle service on Christmas Eve.
Christingle services have become a traditional part of Christmas in many churches. The 'Christingle' can help other children in need throughout the country, as this originates from the Children's Society. At our Christingle gatherings we donate to the Society in various ways as we celebrate.
The Christingle Orange helps tell the Christmas story:
The orange represents the whole world which God made.
The sweets and fruits are all the good things the world provides.
The red ribbon round the orange is for our forgiveness. It is red to represent Jesus' blood, shed for each one of us.
A candle is put in a hole in the top of the orange, which is for Jesus, the light of the world whose birthday we love to celebrate at Christmas.
This is a magical service when all the candles are alight, we sing our carols and remember once more the wonderful story of the birth of our Saviour.
